I'm slacking, I know. It's this darn pregnancy. I have no energy and I ache all over. But, I'm trying!!!
So, just a quick question for teens this week. This one is specifically for any teen that got pregnant. How did you find out and what was your first thought?
Some of my books deal with teen pregnancy. I want to know how YOU found out and reacted...no matter the outcome. Just want to know that first raw emotion.
As always, email me at taliajager at att dot net if you don't want to leave your comment here.
Thanks!

Teen Topics #6
It's Thursday again and that means another teen topic. Here's something I'd like to know about...what do teens feel comfortable telling their parents?
I want to maintain open communication with my teenager. She's in 9th grade and will come home from school and tell me about her day. I'm sure I don't get all the details. But, it's nice that she does this. I often wonder what is being left out and why. Last week, she confided something in me that I was shocked to hear. I didn't get mad because she was opening up to me.
But, now what?
I can't punish her for opening up and telling me something. I want her to be able to come to me and tell me when things happen - good or bad. But, I can't get this out of my mind!!!
Teens: How much do you tell your parents? If you tell them something in confidence, do they punish you?
Parents: If your teen tells you something in confidence, what do you do about it? How do you encourage communication?

Teen Topics #5
How far do you let your teen wander? How much supervision should they have? Once again, I would love to hear from both teens and parents.
Teens: Do your parents let you roam around the neighborhood during the day? What about at night? Do you have a curfew?
Parents: Do you always know where your teen is? Is it okay with you if they roam around the neighborhood?
My husband and I have a difference of opinion. As you know we have a teenage daughter. She likes to hang out with some of the kids from the neighborhood. Our neighborhood is big. She has a few girlfriends who come and hang out, but she has 3-4 "boyfriends" that hang out too. I insist that she stay in our yard once it's dark. She hates this of course. But, these boys seem to have no supervision. My husband thinks she shouldn't be able to hang out with them at all because they must be bad news.
Opinions?

Teen Topics #3
Question for parents and teens. Would love to hear opinions.
Scenario: Teenager goes to friend's house. Parents expect teen to stay there unless they are told otherwise. Parents find out teen is at the movies with friends and was driven there by teenage boy.
Does teen get in trouble?
I would expect some sort of permission to be asked. A text, phone call, even Facebook message. Something. I would be upset to find out my teen was somewhere other than where she said she'd be. But, then again, she is a teen.
Parents: What do you expect from your teen?
Teens: What do you think is reasonable and responsible?
