  1. I believe it is. Maybe I am conditioned that way, but I automatically think Sci-Fi.

  2. I think aliens would make it sci-fi or paranormal.

  3. for me, yes. i always lump it into sci fi

  4. Yes. I think it would be automatically tagged as a Sci-Fi. Even with movies they call label it as a Sci-Fi genre.

  5. I think it is...I've never read a book with aliens I didn't consider to be sci-fi. :)

  6. Yes, I'd consider a book with aliens in it to be sci-fi, but mostly I read mysteries.

  7. For me it depends on the role aliens play in the book for it to be considered sci-fi, I'm not sure but I do know the Lux series features aliens and I don't really view the series as sci-fi. Thank you for the giveaway and enjoy your day! :)

  8. I think so. Because I Am Number Four and Daniel X are considered science fictions. Hahaha. They're the only books with aliens that I have read. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! :D

  9. i would think it would be sci fi, unless it was a fiction story like E.T. for some reason, i don't consider that movie to be sci fi.....:) thanks!

  10. Well, I suppose it can be, and by definition should be,but I dont think all books are heavy on the science fiction even when aliens are a big part of the story. Sometimes they're more fantasy driven, especially with YA titles. Anyways, the giveaway's awesome! Followed via GFC, hope you'll hop on down to Twinja Book Reviews

Maybe you'll see something cool! :)

  11. That's what I always believed that when aliens are in it, it would be sci-fi. but then i could be wrong.

  12. Thanks for all the comments! I have this new book I'm writing and after exhausting other possibilities, I think one or two of the characters are going to be aliens, but it's not going to be an alien book, if you know what I mean. It'll have a little to do with the fact that they're not from Earth and have some special abilities, but it won't go into their planet or traveling here or taking over the world or anything like that. It's almost more of a paranormal just with an alien instead of a vampire or werewolf. It's hard to fit that into a genre.

  13. I was lead to believe that if there is an alien that it has to be sci-fi. could i be wrong

  14. I think anything with aliens is sci-fi.

  15. not anymore, i have read some erotic alien stories but weren't really sci-fi

  17. To me it is, but if it has a big romantic undercurrent, I wouldn't know how to classified it.
    Thanks for the chance :)

  18. SciFi covers alot of areas but to me I think it has subgroups like paranormal or romance, etc.

  19. No. It depends if the subject matter is children's, etc., also, what types of characters are involved. It could be fantasy. This is a tough question. michelle_willms@yahoo.com

  20. Well, depends on the story I guess. A comedy situation with an alien in it wasn't a sci fi movie at all.

    Thanks for this giveaway :)

  21. In most cases, yes.

  22. Yes, I think anything with aliens is Sci-Fi.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It depends on the story there are some stories with aliens that don't really seem sci-fi at all.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It depends on the circumstances. If there are spaceships and other planets, I'd say yes. If it's vampires are actually aliens kind of thing, then no.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Maybe. I'd have to ask my hubby what he thinks. He LOVES books about aliens. Dunno if he'd consider them Sci-fi or not though?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think so, yes. & I love me some alien books!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Technically...yes. But I don't think that all books that feature aliens are necessarily sci-fi—some skate that fine line between fantasy and sci-fi, and end up more on the fantasy side. It's all about context. Moning's Fever series comes to mind. The fey are actually aliens that have been on Earth for thousands upon thousands of years, yet I could never consider the series sci-fi.

  28. I don't think so. I've read a series that was more fantasy than sci-fi

    ReplyDelete
  29. Yes but if aliens are just a little part of it then I would say it is romance with a bit of fantasy.

  30. Yes, I think so! Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  31. to me, yes.
Thank you for the giveaway :)

  32. I guess, thats what it always was.. but I can see it as paranormal more.

    ReplyDelete
  33. yes unless its comical then its humor.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would consider it to be sci-fi. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  35. For me, yes. Science is concerned outer space and so, with aliens too and aliens has never had any hard proof yet, therefore it is still fiction.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Usually but I think some books prove you can have an alien and little or no sci-fi elements.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would think a book with Aliens in it yes is considered sci-fi

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think yes. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Aliens make it Sci-Fi but maybe it could be "double genred" like Sci-Fi-Romance ??

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think it just depends on how the aliens are perceived through the book.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I believe it all depends on the way you present them.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yes, I think it would be. It can also be another genre like romance, young adult, comedy, but it will still be sci-fi.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Never thought about it, but yes, I think it would be.

  44. I think it is your own personal opinion, and it would have to be a well written alien novel to be considered sci-fi for me. Thanks for the giveaway!
