  6. Something that I don't think has changed since I was a teen 12 years ago. Peer Pressure. It will always be one of the worst things that teens face.

  7. I think teens today face alot more issues than what I did when I was a teen. Times have changed, they have social media to contend with, drugs that were not available when I was a teen. And most of them have two parents working all day, not just one when I was a teen. I feel bad for them, I really do. But I also know that teens today have so many more opportunities than I did. Either way, their challenges are so much different than mine were.

  8. Bullying is a big one. Which also leads to self esteem issues and sometimes drug and alcohol problems, And with it all suicide has become more noticed among teens.

  9. Bullying! It's at the center of so much pain and so many of the teens' problems. I think it's the biggest factor that pushes teens toward unhealthy choices, like drinking and doing drugs.

Want to be skinnier because of self image or bullying

  11. I think self image and pressure to have sex are probably two of the biggest. Also at my son's school a lot of kids are chewing tobacco. It's nasty but I know they are giving in due to peer pressure.

  12. I think there are the same pressures as when I was young including bullying, drinking, sex, and drugs, but even more prevalent today are the pressures to succeed and be "special" in school - student of the month, grades, SATs and so on. A lot of young people are spoiled in ways my generation never was materially, but by the same token there is much more pressure to be a high achiever and the emotional backlash of failure can be devastating.
