Review: Coexist (Keegan's Chronicles) by Julia Crane

Sixteen-year-old Keegan is struggling to keep her huge secret from her friends--she's an elf, descended from a long line of elves that live in secrecy alongside humans.

In elfin society, mates are predetermined but not allowed to meet until they are eighteen. Against tradition, Keegan's brother Thaddeus told her Rourk's name because his visions warned him she'd need Rourk's protection, especially since Keegan will play a key role in the coming war between the dark and light elves.

Rourk finds himself drawn to Keegan's side every time she thinks his name. He wants to talk to her but remains in the shadows, silently guarding her every time she mentally beckons him. A twist of fate thrusts the two of them together when Rourk is forced to step up his protection and make his presence known.

An ancient prophecy deeply entwines Keegan's family and the future of their society. Somehow they must find a way to thwart fate and win the battle...without losing Keegan. With war brewing, and dark forces aligning, will Keegan and Rourk ever have the life together that they both desire?

My Review: 5 Stars!

I absolutely love the cover! It's the first thing that drew me in. I knew I wanted to read this book just by looking at the cover.

I got sucked into this book quickly. I enjoyed the characters, the storyline, and the writing. It was a creative story and I found myself rooting for the main characters. It had romance and friendship along with magic and adventure. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Tempest by Holly Hook

Book 1 of the Destroyers Series

Sixteen-year-old Janelle never thought the gray spiral birthmark on her arm meant anything special. That is, until she meets Gary, a boy her age with a birthmark exactly like hers. Gary’s attractive, brooding, and perfectly normal…except for the fact that he materialized out of a dangerous hurricane right in front of her. Janelle’s certain of only one thing. Gary’s mark—and hers, too—mean something, but he’s reluctant to tell her what.

At last she squeezes the truth from Gary about their markings. And the truth is utterly terrifying: Janelle and Gary are more connected to the destructive power of nature than she ever dreamed possible. And learning the truth about herself is only the start of her nightmare.

My Review:
I don't usually do book reviews because I don't have the time to write them with all the writing and reading I do. But, every now and then, you'll find one posted.

This is one of the first books I bought with my Kindle. It immediately swept me away. I'm not sure what the subcategory would be... paranormal, supernatural, or fantasy - but I could care less about what it's considered. It's YA and I LOVE YA. It was different than what has become the norm. The main character, Janelle, grabbed me and I immediately liked her. I found myself sometimes yelling at her when she was making the wrong decisions, knowing the whole time that if I was her, I'd be making those same decisions.

It was really a neat book and I don't want to spoil it, but if you have an eReader, go get it! It's only .99 cents!! There is a paperback as well.

It's a great, fast paced read!! Unique. Engaging. Hard to put down. I can't wait to see what else Ms. Hook has in store for us.
